2 A brief history of interconnection….
Telcos laid fiber along the tracks to enhance the communications pathways. Equinix was established to help networks to scale the internet. Ecosystems emerged, creating network effects for connected parties. Let’s talk a little about how we have evolved over time. Our platform was founded with the simple idea of giving networks a neutral place to exchange data traffic. From there, our platform become more magnetic, as we evolved to help the digital world scale: Networks came to connect to other networks to scale the internet Content providers connecting with multiple networks to reach millions of consumers Financial trading exchanges connecting with banks, money managers and trading partners -->ecosystems emerged Cloud providers joined to capitalize on our network density and create on/off ramps for enterprises Enterprises came to re-architect their IT, access the clouds and networks to reduce costs and improve used experiences Next set of ecosystems begin to emerge…and we continue to evolve our global platform. Railroads established the first physical network infrastructure. Internet was formed, leveraging the early communication infrastructure. Content providers came to connect to networks to reach end users. Cloud providers joined to capitalize on our network density and reach enterprises. 2

This freed up IOPS capacity on Exadata and addressed constrained backup capacity problem on Data-domain Leveraged Equinix Cloud Exchange Fabric and Oracle’s Fastconnect to transfer 12 to 15 TB daily from primary Exadata to Standby databases in OCI in a stable, secured manner. Oracle and Equinix Use Cases Exadata systems colocated in Chicago and DC Needed to make space in their on-premise data center Production in Chicago and DR in DC - CIO wanted to consolidate Databases Oracle FastConnect solved the need for a secure, high performance, low latency connectivity Exadata Cloud Machine is available through a subscription offering that requires a minimum term of 4 years. Databases provisioned include all the features of Oracle Database Enterprise Edition, plus all Oracle Enterprise Manager Packs and all Database Enterprise Edition Options. Customers can choose to deploy Oracle Database 11g Release 2 ( ), Oracle Database 12c Release 1 ( ), Oracle Database 12c Release 2 ( ), or a combination of these. There are four distinct customer profiles that immediately benefit from Exadata Cloud Machine: Customers who are subject to data regulatory, data sovereignty and data residency laws or policies that require their data to be stored within a corporate entity or a political territory, and not in a public cloud data center. Customers whose applications require the throughput or latency of a local LAN rather than a WAN. Customers whose databases are tightly-coupled with existing applications and infrastructure and are not ready to move these applications to the public cloud. Customers that want the agility, simplicity, elasticity, and subscription based payment benefits of a database cloud, but are not ready to move their database to a public cloud. With Oracle Database Exadata Cloud Machine, companies get the advantages of cloud—like pay-per-use and far less in-house IT management—with a machine that physically sits inside a company’s own data center and is completely managed remotely by Oracle.
