Operation Type Double Acting. Two Double Acting Bi fold
Double-acting doors were more common prior to World War II. After the post-war Baby Boom, people realized that double-acting doors are dangerous, particularly for children. They have a spring pivot that forces the door to close. They often come in pairs.
6
Operation Type Bi fold Bi-fold doors are advantageous because they don’t advance into the space very far. They are good for laundry rooms and closets, especially ones that are in a narrow corridor.
7
Operation Type Slider / Sliding 7
Sliders come as flush, paneled, louvered or mirrored. The advantage of sliders is that they don’t open into the room. The disadvantage is that you can see only half of the interior space at a time. Two single-acting doors on a closet are more popular however they take up a lot of space in the room when they are open. 7
8
Operation Type Pocket Pocket doors slide into the wall space. They are a favorite of designers because they address one of the disadvantages of single-acting doors. Single-acting doors can block windows if they open near a windowed wall.
