What is college and career readiness?
Students graduating from high school prepared to enter and succeed in post-secondary opportunities, whether college or career.

Why is it important? By the year 2025, over 75% of all careers will require post-secondary education or certification. Some may have heard the term ICAP in conjunction with CCR.

What is an ICAP? Individual Career and Academic Plan

A multi-year process developed by students along with parents and school staff to guide students as they explore their own career and academic opportunities. Actively engages students to understand their interests, strengths and values; to create a vision of their future; to develop individual goals; and to prepare a personal plan for achieving their vision and goals.

Tuttle will be a phase 2 pilot district for the 2018-19 school year
Used to help establish personalized academic and career goals, explore post-secondary career and educational opportunities, align course work and curriculum, apply to post-secondary institutions, secure financial aid, and ultimately enter the workforce. Tuttle will be a phase 2 pilot district for the school year Tool that will allow students, parents and teachers to access all this info from one place, which will be covered shortly.

ICAP implementation Phase 1 (2017-18) Phase 2 (2018-19)
28 districts (59 school sites) currently in a pilot program Phase 2 ( ) Additional districts (including Tuttle) will be added to the pilot program Tuttle Middle School will be our focus Phase 3 ( ) Required for all 9th graders Current 7th graders will be the first group of students with an ICAP By participating in the pilot at the Middle School in , we will be prepared for this rollout phase Each year thereafter students must update their ICAP Tool available to do ICAP

OK Career Guide Tool chosen by the district to allow students to create and update the ICAP Contains many wonderful features Take Interest, Skills and Values Assessments Explore occupations by Career Fields, National Career Clusters and Pathways Plan for education; what needed for occupations, find colleges, financial aid, scholarship search tools Job search tools; find openings, research employers, create resume Create Ed Plan (required for ICAP) Parents and school staff will also use to help students In the process of rolling out to Middle School teachers and students to take interest and skills assessments To look a little more at Career Fields, Clusters and Pathways shortly.

What we’re doing Surveys given to all high school students to find out their plans after high school Senior training Beyond Now newsletter Developing an Internship program for Seniors Setting up a College Fair for Fall 2018 Implementing a Career Fair next school year Looking into ways for all students to begin thinking about careers (beginning with Pre-K) Advance through next slide quickly for 9th & 10th grade meeting (or skip entirely by moving slide to the very end).

Upcoming Senior training
FAFSA, scholarships, college applications For students and parents 3 dates and evening times (3/27, 4/5 & 4/10) Sign-up sheets at the back of auditorium More dates and times will be added if needed

Internship program Partnering with businesses to host internships
To be offered to Seniors next year Will receive a grade and 1 high school credit for a semester or ½ credit for a 9 weeks Some classroom time involved Majority of time spent at business partner getting hands-on experience in the career Several assignments to be completed Sign-up sheet for those interested at the back
