2 The Salvation Army The Salvation Army is a program that has a biblical based approach of serving and meeting the needs of individuals, children, and families in the communities that they are based in Their mission and ministry are motivated by God’s word and His love with an emphasis on the importance of serving others in an unbiased way. The Salvation Army assists these populations through various services which includes, but is not limited to: elderly services, clothing and food services, adult rehabilitation, hunger relief, holiday assistance, and emergency disaster services.

Guidance for Families in risk of, or in, poverty Family had to have one child under the age of 18 Interventions Focused on the Parents Education on community resources Assistance on developing a support system Meant to break the intergenerational poverty

4 Families of Home The renovated program
Same Population as Pathway of Hope with added income threshold More intensive Wholistic – focuses on the entire family Interventions for children and parents Early Childhood education Parenting Classes Employment training Vocational Education

5 Evidence Parents-As-Teachers Program Data
Helps educate children before school Will be the model for childcare with in FoH Data Shows that children who had early childhood education had greater upward mobility and were less likely to be in poverty later in life.

6 Evidence Two Generational Program Program Evidence
Interventions are meant to focus on children and adults Families are “whole” and should be treated as such Evidence TGPs have shown that focusing on adults and children has better success at breaking the “Cycle of Poverty.”

8 What is the income threshold
What is the income threshold? Depends on family size and the ratio of adults to children. Pass out Threshold chart Has the program started? Not yet, looking for families now How can I link families? Provide referral information to the agency staff and referral process Why not utilize each program separately? Accessing all the programs (childcare, vocation, classes, etc) under one roof helps to integrate interventions. Does childcare cost anything? Childcare is provide free of charge during the program, which can also help the family save money during the program to get started. How is the program monitored? Provide monitoring data, as well as how information will be disseminated in the future.
