To grant the power of authority to carry out a specific task.

7. Friar
Person belonging to one of the religious brotherhoods of the Roman Catholic Church.

8. Pueblo
Native American village of house built of adobe, or sun dried bricks of straw and clay.

9. Missionary
One who is sent to do religious or charitable work in a territory or foreign country.

10. Mission
A settlement founded to spread Christianity to the people of the area.

11. Seven Cities of Cibola
Legendary cities that were supposedly made entirely of gold

12. Santa Fe
The first colony founded by the Spanish in the new world. Founded in 1610, Santa Fe still exists. Today the city is the capital of New Mexico.

13. Corpus Christi de la Ysleta
The first mission founded in Texas in Near present day El Paso, the mission still exists today.
