Python 2 Thesis Support SUMMARY
NOTE: Education advisors—ed techs, POs, and AAs—can choose to implement Steps 1–4, but we encourage them to ask the students to do so. Student locates his or her previously approved thesis proposal. Student locates or creates his or her Python Thesis Dashboard by following these instructions. Student enters all information that is required for the Thesis Proposal Form (TPF) milestone (details covered in “Students: Avoid Rerouting Proposal”) Student does NOT route the form; instead, the student asks one of his or her education advisors—ed tech, PO, or AA—to mark the TPF as Previously Approved. Education advisor opens TPF from dashboard’s Document Output section and checks the “Record Proposal Approval” button at the top of the form. After doing so, the education advisor may elect to edit the auto-filled TPF completion date in the dashboard’s Requirements Status section to reflect the true date the proposal was approved (not just recorded as such in the thesis dashboard); editing the Completed date is optional. NOTE: Education advisors can stop accidental routing of the TPF at any time by performing steps 5–6.

You can elect to edit the completed date by clicking on the blue pencil, making it match the original proposal approval date. This is optional NOTE: The Proposal Approved Date was not something tracked in Python 1 (only the fact that it was approved). The proposal approved/not approved feature did not transfer from Python 1 to Python 2 and the thesis dashboard. TPF approval is reflected here, too.

Python 2 Thesis Support Students can update their dashboard data between now and the routing of their final Thesis Release and Approval Form in Python. Their next required dashboard step is recording the date on which they attended or viewed the mandatory Thesis Brief during their graduation quarter (students: see our website for more details [forthcoming]).
