2 Recent Public Comment Proposals
Proposal to Improve the Efficiency of Organ Placement Approved by the Board on Dec. 5, 2017 Reduced current time limits for responding to organ offers Established new time limit for primary transplant hospitals to make a final decision on organ offers (1 hour) Limited organ offer acceptances Required OPOs to enter organ acceptance when received Modified Policy 2.11: Deceased Donor Information The Committee recently had a proposal approved by the Board that will improve the efficiency of organ placement It was approved by the Board on Dec. 5, 2017 by a vote of The main aspects of the proposal included: Reducing the current time limits for responding to organ offers Establishing a new time limit for primary transplant hospitals to make a final decision on organ offers (1 hour) Limiting the number of organ offer acceptances (per organ type)per candidate to 2 Requiring OPOs to enter organ acceptance when received Modifying Policy 2.11: Deceased Donor Information

3 Policy Implementation Dates
Changes to Policies 2.2 (OPO Responsibilities), (Required Deceased Donor 1 Information, and (Requested Deceased Donor Information) – effective March 1, 2018 Changes to Policies 1.2 (Definitions), 5.6.B (Time Limit for 5 Acceptance), and 5.6.C (Effect of Acceptance) – effective pending implementation, scheduled for Q2 2018 The implementation dates for the approved changes are listed here: For the changes to Policies 2.2 (OPO Responsibilities), 2.11 (Required Deceased Donor 1 Information, and 2.12 (Requested Deceased Donor Information), these will be effective March 1, 2018 since they do not require programming. For the changes to Policies 1.2 (Definitions), 5.6.B (Time Limit for 5 Acceptance), and 5.6.C (Effect of Acceptance), these will be effective pending implementation. Currently, the changes to the time limits are scheduled for the second quarter of 2018.

4 Committee Projects Expedited Organ Placement
System Optimizations to Expedite Organ Allocation and Increase Utilization DCD Policy Review Here are the current committee projects. For the Expedited Organ Placement project, the committee currently has a concept paper out for public comment in order to solicit feedback to help the committee develop a policy proposal. For the System Optimizations project, this project will continue to evaluate additional ways to improve organ placement DCD Policy Review – this is a new issue the committee is addressing based on questions from the community. During its fall meeting, the Committee determined that the current DCD policy needs to be reviewed to determine if updates are needed.
