SOME OF THE WORK TILII DOES
We design and deliver training to staff to help them understand how people with a learning disability like to be supported. We talk about equality and respect and how important it is for staff to have the three P’s - Patience, Patience and Patience We design and deliver Advocacy Training for our friends. We talk about how we all have human rights which is really great, but we also remind people not to forget about the responsibilities that go hand in hand with these rights Roving Reporters, we have done lots of different reports from The Launch of the Hospital Passport for people with learning disabilities to being safe in your home. Catherine from Downpatrick TILI enjoyed visiting the Fire Station. Consultations. We have helped RQIA with the Bamford review and given our views on accessible transport to name only a few. Surveys and questionnaire. We have and helped to design questions for patience surveys for example we did one recently for RQIA. We also helped a Dr Judy Curren who was looking at GP surgeries and ways to find out if people with a learning disability were receiving a good service. At the moment we are also running workshops in each day centre in Belfast to insure service users give their opinions all of the day centres in Belfast

Okay back to work, we also do Easy Read documents
Some TILII members helped produce the Easy Read standards of codes and practice for NISCC that we are helping to launch today, this was very important to us and now we will explain why
7
It is important that the staff who support us treat us as individuals
8
Abracadabra No one has a magic wand to make everything perfect
in fact life would be boring if it was perfect, but staff need to help us reach our goals, so we can live happy and healthy lives and have bright futures
9
Our Stories Now we are going to talk about how staff work together with us Louise to ask TILII members how staff support them
