Today (after this briefing) 18:30 Race pack pick-up Your race package includes (for your team): Helmet stickers (12x) Bike sticker (4x) Body decals (16x) both arms and both legs do not cut off the WTS logo Accreditation Card will be required at ALL TIMES to access venue and athletes lounge A green dot sticker must be placed on accreditation cards 3 Purple wrist bands will be provided for coaches

Check-In Procedures Accreditation with Relay green dot sticker
You will NOT be able to access the athlete lounge without your accreditation card. Note that you will only have access to the lounge during the period prior to your own race (not during other races). Bike Check - before entering Athletes Lounge. ( All Together ) Refer to 5.2 & 5.3 in Competition Rules Handle bars with clip-ons Wheels (non authorized UCI wheels rule) Spare wheels will be checked and labelled at bike check. Coaches must transport their own wheels to the team wheel station and collect them after the race. Disc brakes are now legal and spare wheels with disc brakes may be placed at the team wheel station however they are not allowed in the neutral wheel station Bike frame Helmet Bike mechanic service is available at the athletes lounge from 5:30am to 11am.

Check-In Procedures Athletes’ Lounge
ALL Team Members must check in together! ID CHECK FOR EVERY ATHLETE! (Please bring your ID) Uniform and race gear check (name, country, logos, ITU logo, zippers) – photos taken of each uniform Wearing other uniform during the race = DSQ! Body marking check (both arms, both legs) Timing chip & Swim cap distribution for 1st athlete 2nd,3rd and 4th team member will collect the timing chip & swim cap from the relay area Athletes MUST be in the relay check in zone in time to collect chip and be ready You will not return to the athlete lounge after the race. Please label your bags (race number sticker) and we will move them to the recovery area. .

Check-In Procedures Transition Area ALL team members check in together
Helmet – Do not leave helmet straps fastened in transition Running shoes go outside and in front of your box Helmet on bike. The bike must be racked in the first transition by the rear wheel and in the second transition by either wheel Last athlete nearest the mount line. At the transition: remember to leave your helmet strap unfastened in the transition, athlete who does not comply will receive a 15 seconds time penalty in TA1. Please note about the new rule on helmet branding, there in on limitation of manufacturers or sponsors logos on the helmet, but these logos must be incorporated to the helmet and are not stickers. The only stickers allowed are the race numbers. Running shoes on the ground and close to your box; helmet on the bike; label your spare wheels, and check in your spare wheels at the bike check. They will be collected there and returned to the athletes’ lounge. Rack your bike with the front wheel point towards the transition in TA1, and you may rack your bike with either wheel in TA2.

The Course Swim 1 Lap of 250m Bike 2 Laps of 3.75km = 7km Run
1 lap of 1.5km The course: swim will be two laps of seven hundred and fifty meters, a total distance of one point five k; bike will be 9 laps of four point four five k, a total distance of forty point zero five k; and run will 4 laps of two point five four k, a total distance of ten point one six k.

Pre-Start Procedure Mixed Relay Athletes’ Introduction
10 minutes before your start, line up together in transition When you are introduced, jog together towards the swim start. First athlete. Jog to pontoon. Select position stay behind line. Blocking more than one position = DSQ 2nd ,3rd and 4th: Stop at swim exit and return to the Recovery Area.

Start Procedure Athletes in position:
The start can be given any time the Head Referee announces “On Your Mark” Electronic Horn Blast The race starts Athletes not moving forward at the start will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1 How to rank juniors.

False Start Procedure False start with many athletes:
Several horn blasts Kayaks in front of you Everyone goes back to his or her original start spot Valid start but with early starters: If someone starts before the horn and every one else starts with the horn, the false starter will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1 During the time penalty the athlete cannot touch any race equipment

Swim Behaviour Monitoring
Definition from the ITU CR 4.1: e.) Athletes may sportingly maintain their own space in the water: (i) Where athletes make accidental contact in the swim and then immediately afterwards move apart no penalty will be incurred; (ii) Where athletes make contact in the swim, and an athlete continues to impede the progress of the other athlete without moving apart, this action will result in a time penalty; (iii) Where athletes deliberately target another athlete to impede their progress, gain unfair advantage and potentially cause harm will result in disqualification and may be reported to ITU Arbitration Tribunal for potential suspension or expulsion.

Swim Behaviour Monitoring
Definition from the ITU CR 4.1: There will be additional boats and Technical officials deployed on the swim course to monitor athletes’ behaviour in this respect. Infringements will be recorded and appropriate action will be taken dependent on the rules definition from the previous slide. Please respect your fellow competitors and keep the race fair.

Run Penalty Box Penalty box is for infringements in: Swim, TA1, Bike, TA2 and Run e.g.: swim conduct, mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line, equipment outside your box, rack the bike outside your own space, littering outside the littering zone, etc. Location: Before making the final U turn to transition and finish Information: White board to show race numbers (and letter) (Athletes need to read the board) Procedure: 10 second time penalty served on any lap of the run ANY member of the team can serve the penalty If you do not stop, it may result in a TEAM DQ

Run Penalty Box If you incur a penalty, you will find your number plus a letter code indicating the nature of the infraction: D = Dismount Line Violation S = Swim Conduct M = Mount Line violation E = Equipment Outside Box L = Littering V = Other Violations For example: 12D….athlete #12 received a time penalty for a dismount line violation 2x12ME…athlete #12 received 2 time penalties for mount line and equipment outside the box violations

Relay Zone Relay Zone Prior to the relay exchange, the athletes will wait in the recovery area until the moment when the Technical official tells them to enter the relay zone at the finish. It is athletes’ responsibility to be there, collect timing chip and be ready The relay exchange from one team member to another will take place inside the „Relay Zone”

Relay Zone Relay Zone The relay exchange is completed by the incoming athlete, using their hand to contact the body of the out- going athlete within the relay zone If the contact occurs outside the relay zone, both athletes must return to the relay zone and complete the exchange properly. Keep both Feet behind the relay line If the exchange is not completed inside the relay zone, the team will get a 10 second penalty

Post Race Procedures For Top 3 Teams: 1. TV/Flash Interviews
2. Medal Ceremony 3. Media “Mixed Zone” All Team members of the first 3 teams are requested to wait in the Finish Area Medal Presentation - protocol – within 5 minutes after the winner finishing Please follow the ambush marketing rules Dress “up” – coaches assistance needed. Post-race procedure: Photo-finish, please proceed to the mixed zone or recovery area after you finish to avoid congestion in the finish area; top 3 and series leaders, officials will direct you to the media area for TV interviews, then it will be followed by the medal ceremony, after the ceremony, please proceed to the mixed zone for further media interviews. For the medal ceremony, please dress up – you may wear your uniform or country clothes, and again, the ambush marketing rules apply here. ITU will wire transfer the prize money to you.

Ambush Marketing Rule Ambush marketing is defined as:
“Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and media photographers to expose the sponsor logos larger then the approved sizes, and/or equipment or objects not provided by LOC or ITU.” Please follow the ambush marketing rule

Post Race Procedures Anti-Doping Control
Photo ID is needed for every athlete to go for testing. Team Medical Access Only team medical will be allowed to enter the medical tent after ITU Medical Delegate’s permission. Every NF can have 1 team medical accreditation. Team doctors should register with the ITU Medical Delegate. Immediately after this briefing, we will have a team medical doctors meeting with the medical delegate and LOC doctor.

Coaches Areas Coaches Accreditation already issued for either U23 or Junior. Limited to 3 per NF for Relay 3 new Wrist bands after this They will have access to: Athletes’ Lounge/Post Recovery Area Swim Start Area Wheel Station (Team Wheels) Area Note – you will need your accreditation card to access the athlete lounge. You will only be able to access the lounge prior to your athlete’s race(s). For Relay this will involve a Sticker. Wrist band for Coaches Coaches Areas: coaches accreditation will be distributed to those whose NF have registered them through the online system; coaches will have access to:
