The Appalachian Trail Conservancy is a volunteer-based, private nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of the 2,175-mile Appalachian National Scenic Trail, a 250,000-acre greenway extending from Maine to Georgia. Our mission is to ensure that future generations will enjoy the clean air and water, scenic vistas, wildlife and opportunities for simple recreation and renewal along the entire Trail corridor.

Formerly known as the Appalachian Trail Conference, the ATC is an 80-year-old organization whose roots are traced to the vision of Benton MacKaye, who convened and organized the first Appalachian Trail "conference" – a gathering of hikers, foresters and public officials – in Washington, D.C., in Today, we work with the National Park Service Appalachian Trail Park Office, 30 maintaining clubs and multiple other partners to engage the public in conserving this essential American resource.

the A.T. stretches over 14 different states and passes through more than 60 federal, state, and local parks and forests. Hundreds of roads cross it. In some parts, the Trail “corridor” is only a few hundred feet wide.

United Health Care The ATC offers United Health to a all full-time employees. Two different packages are offered. Package YWL-40A and YWM-41B Descriptions of both packages are included along with a United Health Care Welcome book, and an enrollment form

MetLife ATC offers MetLife dental insurance to all Full-Time and Part-Time B employee’s. ATC does not contribute to this cost. Free Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability (LTD) are available as well. Even if you do not wish to have dental insurance, you may check off the highlighted LTD and Life Insurance boxes on your enrollment form. Again these are provide by the ATC, and will not cost you anything Note: On these form you may see other services such as vision, short term disability, etc. Met Life does not provide these services for ATC at this time. This is a generic Met-Life form, please only complete the highlighted area’s

403b Lincoln Financial ATC provides retirement planning through Lincoln Financial Group. If you wish to sign up for a plan, please contact ATC’s 403b representative. Their business card can be found in your packet. Please also inform the HR Coordinator that you will opening up an account with Lincoln. Once the account is opened, and the Lincoln Rep contacts HR, a biweekly deduction of your choice will be taken out for you. Although you may open an account at anytime, ATC will being contributing towards you account after one year of employment. The rates at which ATC contributes can be found in your “Schedule of Benefits.

Important Contact’s Included in your handbook will also be a listing of all employee’s and the phone numbers, ATC office addresses, and contact information for ATPO and The Trail Crews. Please keep these for your records. Periodically Headquarters will send out updated contact information

Employee Information Please fill out the employee information form
One copy will remain at your home office and one at headquarters in your personnel file. The section at the bottom entitled “allergies/medical condition” is completely optional. This section is only to be filled out if you have a preexisting health condition or allergy you would like ATC and your supervisor to be aware of. For example, if you carry an epée pen and would like you supervisor to be aware that a spare one is in your desk in case you have an emergency.
