Working alongside Modeling Guided practice Affirming recognition of achievement Few questions, concise, clear language Please find attached 2 pieces of writing which were done by one of my students.  Although he was abandoned by his mother at birth and raised by his Grandmother, he is now 18 and set to leave high school in the Spring.  Even though he will not graduate with a Dogwood, he will cross the stage short only 1 or 2 courses.    School has been a difficult journey for him so the fact that he has stayed in school is a testimony to his Grandmother's conviction that he could find success.  As you can see he has learning difficulties, but there is certainly nothing wrong with his thinking or ability to express his thoughts.  He is planning to become a mechanic.  He also enjoys wood-working.  He has been a father just short of 2 years, and is determined to be involved with his child even though he is no longer with her mother.
