2. Introduction to IC Technology
Definition of IC: The technique where many circuit components are integrated on single silicon wafer. Feature size: The feature size of any semiconductor technology is defined as the minimum length of the MOS transistor channel between the drain and the source. Speed and Power: Smaller size of IC components yields higher speed and lower power consumption due to smaller parasitic resistances, capacitances and inductances.

3. Levels of Integration:-
Small Scale Integration:- (10-100) transistors => Example: Logic gates
ii) Medium Scale Integration:- ( ) => Example: counters
iii) Large Scale Integration:- ( ) => Example:8-bit chip
iv) Very Large Scale Integration:- ( ) => Example:16 & 32 bit up
v) Ultra Large Scale Integration:- ( ) => Example: Special processors, virtual reality machines, smart sensors

4. Moore’s Law
Definition: As Gordon Moore(one of the founder of Intel) predicted in the early 1970s that number of transistors per chip continued to double every one and half year or 18 months at the same time dimension of the transistor is dropped down from 25µm in 1960 to 0.18µ in 2000.
