According to the dictionary…
Reform means to improve (someone or something) by removing or correcting faults, problems, etc. Protest means something said or done that shows disagreement with or disapproval of something.

Beliefs of Christians in the 16th century:
If you died with sin you would go Purgatory or to hell. You had to go to Church and get the Priest to clean your Soul. If you died with a clean Soul you would go to heaven.

Going on a Crusade could get you out of purgatory
You could buy an indulgence which paid your way out of hell

Martin Luther A German monk who disagreed with the church & began the Protestant religion He compared the Latin Catholic Bible with the original Hebrew bible & found that parts were incorrectly translated. Luther hung his research on the local Church door in 1517.

Martin Luther Beliefs You Don’t have to go to Church to get your soul cleaned. The Church is wrong to sell indulgences People should read the Bible for themselves and in their own language not Latin.
