Main Idea: the Supreme court made changes that shaped American Society. Some beneficial and others not as much. Earl Warren was a valuable asset in these changes through his liberal view The Court took an active role in promoting more liberal politics (a political and social philosophy advocating individual freedom, representational forms of government, progress and reform, and protection of civil liberties.) this was because Earl supported this way of running the government. Warren Court decisions greatly expanded the rights of people accused of crimes Examples of cases include: Gideon VS Wainwright Mapp VS Ohio Escobedo VS Illinois Miranda VS Arizona These cases and many others divided the public opinion Liberals- thought it was great and it was necessary to limit police power, but to protect the right of all citizens to a fair trial Conservatives: criticized this was of court and argued the trials benefited the criminal suspect
