2 Purpose of tonight… Meet your child’s teacher. Meet other parents.
See your child’s classroom. Be more aware of some the strategies we use to help your child learn. Have a look at some resources.

3 Resources Pencil, ruler, sharpener, rubber and colouring materials.
Homework diary. PE Kit: Wednesday & Thursday (double block)

4 Homework Should take a maximum of 30 minutes each night. Use your own discretion. Reading book pages and sometimes a task. Spelling homework booklet. Mental maths. Maths Home link sheets. Practise multiplication tables. Research project.

9 Spelling Spelling rule or pattern each week
Extend your child by asking them to think of other words which follow the rule or pattern. Weekly spelling test every Friday Words which your child gets wrong should be practised again the following week.

R.E is taught through This is Our Faith Lessons are relevant to the children’s lives and experiences Lessons are linked to the liturgical year Other world religions are covered at various stages of the primary school Preparation for Sacraments At Mass try to encourage and help your child to learn responses and prayers 15

16 French The children are learning a wide range of vocabulary and phrases including greetings, the weather, parts of the body, ailments, family members, numbers and the café.

17 Health and Wellbeing This programme will cover various aspects of health, physical, social and emotional development delivered through: · Physical Education Programme · Citizenship

18 Art and Design Throughout the year children will experience the use of paints, drawing, printing and collage. They will study the work and style of some famous artists. Music Children participate in singing, simple percussion and rhythm and pitch activities. They enjoy expressing and communicating ideas, thoughts and feelings through musical activities.

21 Label all clothes and equipment including lunch boxes.
How Can You Help? Encourage your child to read regularly and complete reading homework. Regular practise of spelling and times tables. Continue to support your child in using the taught strategies as they complete numeracy homework. (RUCSAC approach) Encourage your child to be more independent. Encourage your child to take time and care over their work. Sign homework. Day to day items: Label all clothes and equipment including lunch boxes. PE kits in on correct day. PE kits can remain in school and be sent home when required. A note or phone call regarding any absence from school. Provide a named clear plastic bottle for water. Check diaries and bags each evening. Sharon
