Biomolecules Foldable
Created by: Joaquin Ortegon IPC
2
Be sure to clean up behind yourself!
All trash must be thrown away, all scissors and table put back where they belong!
3
Cut out four pieces of paper approximately the size of a post-it
Cut out four pieces of paper approximately the size of a post-it. Your substitute will give you a post it as an example. You will 16 squares total.
4
You will work with first four pieces of paper
You will work with first four pieces of paper. Label each piece of paper: (Monomer, Structure, Function, Example)
5
Place a piece of tape at the top of each paper to create foldable tabs
*Place a piece of tape at the top of each paper to create foldable tabs. *Start with the bottom two tabs. *This will be done on the next clean page of your spiral.

Title This Foldable page as Carbohydrates
8
Monomer: A monomers are like legos that make up the total structure
Monomer: A monomers are like legos that make up the total structure. The monomer for carbohydrates is a monosaccharide.
9
Mono = 1 Saccharide = Sugar
10
Draw the structure of a carbohydrate.
11
Each of those hexagons is a monosaccharide (lego).
12
Function: Carbohydrates are your main source of energy!
13
The reason you crave sugar is because it is high in energy.
14
Draw your favorite Bread, Fruit, and Sugary Treat.

Title This Foldable as Lipids
23
The monomer for a lipid is glycerol and 3 fatty acids.
24
Draw the structure. Color Code the Glycerol and 3 Fatty. Acids
Draw the structure. Color Code the Glycerol and 3 Fatty Acids Label as well
25
Lipids are Fats. They also make up the Cell Membrane.
26
Examples: Draw a very oily food and the cell membrane.
27
At Least One DOUBLE Bond
Saturated Unsaturated All single bonds. At Least One DOUBLE Bond Solid Liquid Butter Olive Oil
28
Draw where lipids are made!

Title This Foldable as Nucleic Acids
31
The monomer for a nucleic acid is a a nucleotide.
32
Draw the structure of a nucleotide
Draw the structure of a nucleotide. 3 Parts include (Phosphate, Sugar, and a Nitrogenous Base)
33
Nucleic Acids make up our DNA.
34
Examples include DNA, RNA (1/2 of DNA) and ATP
35
Draw where nucleic acids are made!

37
Title This Foldable as Proteins
38
The monomer for a protein is a an amino acid.
39
Structure of an amino acid.
40
Write the functions of proteins. Note: Not the main energy source.
41
Draw the following two examples of proteins
