Endorsements – Statutory Requirements
A student may earn an endorsement by successfully completing: curriculum requirements for the endorsement four credits in mathematics four credits in science two additional electives credits

STEM A student may earn a STEM endorsement by completing foundation and general endorsement requirements including Algebra II, chemistry, and physics and: a coherent sequence of three or more courses for four or more credits in CTE that includes at least two courses in the same career cluster and at least one advanced CTE course. The courses may be selected from courses in all CTE career clusters or CTE innovative courses approved by the commissioner of education. The final course in the sequence must be selected from one of the following CTE career clusters: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (B) a coherent sequence of four courses in computer science (p. 12) (C) four credits in mathematics by successfully completing Algebra II and three additional mathematics courses for which Algebra II is a prerequisite (D) four credits in science by successfully completing physics and three additional science courses beyond (E) In addition to Algebra II, physics and chemistry, a coherent sequence of three additional credits from no more than two of the categories or disciplines represented by (A), (B), (C), and (D) of this section.

Business and Industry A student may earn a business and industry endorsement by completing foundation and general endorsement requirements and: a coherent sequence of courses for four or more credits in CTE that consists of at least two courses in the same career cluster including at least one advanced CTE course, which includes any course that is the third or higher in a sequence. The courses may be selected from courses in all CTE career clusters or CTE innovative courses approved by the commissioner. The final course in the sequence must be obtained from one of the following CTE career clusters: (B) four English elective credits by selecting three levels in one of the following areas: Agriculture, Food, & Natural Resources Marketing Architecture & Construction Information Technology Arts, Audio/Video Technology & Communication Manufacturing Business Management & Administration Hospitality & Tourism Transportation, Distribution, & Logistics Finance advanced broadcast journalism public speaking advanced journalism: yearbook debate advanced journalism: newspaper

Business and Industry A student may earn a business and industry endorsement by completing foundation and general endorsement requirements and: (C) Four technology applications credits by selecting from the following: Digital Design and Media Production Digital Art and Animation 3-D Modeling and Animation Digital Video and Audio Design Digital Communication in the 21st Century Web Communications Web Design Web Game Development Independent Study in Evolving/Emerging Technologies A locally defined set of four credits from subparagraph (A), (B), or (C) of this section in a coherent sequence that corresponds to the student’s academic or career goals, as documented in the student personal graduation plan

Public Services A student may earn a public services endorsement by completing foundation and general endorsement requirements and: a coherent sequence of courses for four or more credits in CTE that consists of at least two courses in the same career cluster, including at least one advanced CTE course. The courses may be selected from courses in all CTE career clusters or CTE innovative courses approved by the commissioner. The final course in the sequence must be obtained from one of the following CTE career clusters: Education & Training Government & Public Administration Human Services Law, Public, Safety, Corrections, & Security Health Science (B) four courses in Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC)

Arts & Humanities A student may earn an arts and humanities endorsement by completing foundation and general endorsement requirements and: five social studies courses (B) four levels of the same language in a language other than English (C) two levels of the same language in a language other than English and two levels of a different language in a language other than (D) four levels of American sign language (E) a coherent sequence of four credits by selecting courses from one or two categories or disciplines in fine arts or innovative courses approved by the commissioner. (F) Four English elective credits by selecting from the following areas: English IV Independent Study in English Literary Genre Creative Writing Research and Technical Writing Humanities AP English Literature and Composition IB Language Studies A 1 Higher Level Communication Applications

Multidisciplinary Studies
A student may earn a multidisciplinary studies endorsement by completing foundation and general endorsement requirements and: four advanced courses that prepare a student to enter the workforce successfully or postsecondary education without remediation from within one endorsement area or among endorsement areas that are not in a coherent sequence; or (B) four credits in each of the four foundation subject areas to include English IV and chemistry and/or physics; or (C) Four credits in advanced placement or international Baccalaureate, or dual credit selected from English, mathematics, science, social studies, economics, language other than English or fine arts. *(g) A course completed as part of the set of four courses needed to satisfy an endorsement requirement may also satisfy a requirement under 74.12(b) and (c) of this title, including an elective requirement.

Distinguished Level of Achievement
A student may earn a distinguished level of achievement by successfully completing: four credits in mathematics, which must include Algebra II, four credits in science, the remaining curriculum requirements, AND the curriculum requirements for at least one endorsement

Performance Acknowledgements
A student may earn a performance acknowledgement on the student’s diploma and transcript for outstanding performance in a dual credit course by successfully completing: (1) at least 12 hours of college academic courses, including those taken for dual credit as part of the Texas core curriculum, and advanced technical credit courses, including locally articulated courses, with a grade of the equivalent of 3.0 or higher on a scale of 4.0; or (2) an associate degree while in high school Bilingualism and Biliteracy (p. 15) Outstanding performance on a AP (3+) or IB(4+) Exam (p. 16) Outstanding Performance on PSAT, the ACT-PLAN, the SAT or the ACT (p. 16) Nationally or internationally recognized business or industry certification (p. 16) (see amendment on last page of document to see clarification)
