Clicker Question Consider a certain mass of Ne gas in a steel container. You add the same mass of He gas to this container at constant temperature. Which best describes what happens? a) The final pressure is twice the initial pressure. b) The final pressure is more than twice the initial pressure. c) The final pressure is greater than the initial pressure, but it is less than twice as large. d) I am not sure about this.
6
The Partial Pressure of each Gas in a Mixture of Gases in a Container Depends on the Number of Moles of that Gas
7
Kinetic Molecular Theory
Gases consist of particles in constant random motion. Temperature is a measure of average kinetic energy. Pressure is due to collisions of gas particles with the container.
8
KMT (assumptions) Assume gas particles exert no forces on each other.
Assume the volume of the individual gas particles is negligible (zero).

Chapter 5: Similar to #156 You have a sealed, flexible balloon filled with SF6(g). P = 1.00 atm, T = 25°C. How can you make this balloon float? Solve for the new conditions.
