1 Answer as many of the tasks below in 15 minutes…
What does immortal mean? ‘Funerals are for the bereaved not the deceased’ think of two reasons for each point of view. What are the three destinations that Roman Catholics believe await us when we die? Name the story from the Bible that Christians use to understand how they will be judged by God? Why do Christians refer to Jesus as the ‘redeemer’? Describe the Christian view of the soul (there are four) What are the three destinations that Roman Catholics believe await us when we die? Do you think humans have a soul? Explain giving two reasons.

2 Christians believe that as humans we are both body and soul.
The body is temporary and of this world. The soul is not something that can be see. It is the unique non physical part of us that allows us to relate to god; that lives on after death and makes everyone unique.

3 The Soul is what makes humans unique. Animals do not have a soul
The Soul is what makes humans unique. Animals do not have a soul. This is another reasons why dogs are vile.

4 Bible references about the Soul
There are 17 verses in the Bible that talk about the soul. ‘Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him’ Psalm 62:1 Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ Matthew 22:37

5 Is Vladimir Putin immortal??
Fingers crossed Trump isn't…

6 Immortality of the Soul
In our gospels there are references to Jesus suggesting Moses, Abraham and Elijah living in a spiritual realm. ‘If I can do it so can you…I resurrected and ascended to heaven’ ‘Hang on..that’s the wrong Luke…I’ve told you before do one you little get’

7 The Apostle's Creed Apollo Creed was a fictional boxer in the Rocky films. Rocky fought him and nearly beat him in Rocky 1. Oddly for a boxer, he wore girls school socks…

8 I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

To sum up: The Apostle’s creed – a statement of Christian belief – says that Jesus was resurrected and that those who believe can expect to also be resurrected and live forever in heaven.

10 Soul vs Body Sometimes the body wants things that it should not have; be that money, sex, power or violence. St Paul said that in these instances we should listen to the spirit/soul. Therefore the soul is more important than the body It’s true I did say that although right now I would love a pack of crisps…or at least my body does. My soul wants a sausage roll..lolz!

11 Life after death Death will reunite us with loved ones
The soul lives on in heaven, hell or Purgatory Heaven is free of suffering, death, pain or evil Revelation 21:4 states ‘There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain’ Cameron is furious at the poor grammar in this part of the Bible. On behalf of all Christian's on earth and in heaven I am sorry Cameron.

12 Purgatory is a mainly catholic belief
Purgatory is a mainly catholic belief. It is a sort of waiting room for souls who are not quite good enough for heaven or bad enough for hell

13 Salvation, Redemption and the Suffering of Christ
Salvation = Jesus came to earth to save people from their sins through his sacrifice in death on the cross Redemption = the idea that sins can be forgiven and a person can be redeemed. Christians refer to Jesus as the Redeemer.

14 God as Judge God has two roles: eternal creator of the world at the beginning of time and judge at the end of the world. God will judge all humans for their actions at the end of the world (Judgement Day) On the Day of Judgement people will be separated into those who were good and those who were bad. This is explained in the Parable ‘The Sheep and the Goats’
