Doctrine of Predestination
Human nature since Adam’s fall is utterly depraved. Some are predestined for salvation. Christ died for the Elect.
4
Rejects whatever cannot be found in the Bible.
All that is required for salvation is contained in the Scriptures and in them alone.
5
Accepts Baptism and Eucharist as the only sacraments.
Christ is only spiritually present in the Eucharist. Sacraments do not confer grace; only the elect can receive the effects of the sacraments.
6
Rejects: vestments, altar, images, organs, hymns.
7
Justification is by faith alone.
Free will is not sufficient to enable people to do good works, unless they are helped by grace. Human will is bound by the slavery of sin.
8
God has revealed himself as Creator and Redeemer.
True wisdom consists of a knowledge of God and ourselves. Salvation can only be achieved through Christ. God is the sole mediator between God and humans.
