Abstract photography, sometimes called non-objective, experimental, conceptual or concrete photography, is a means of depicting a visual image that does not have an immediate association with the object world and that has been created through the use of photographic equipment, processes or materials.

6. Steps for the project: Select a topic for your photo essay
Shoot 16 photos that relate to your chosen topic
Upload all images to a new folder called PHOTO ESSAY
Edit and abstract photos in Photoshop so that they no longer look like they belong in reality
Upload all images into Adobe Premiere
Apply sound and transitions
Render out final photo essay into a movie and put on one of the classroom flash drives

8. Capturing the Photos
As always try to get the clearest picture of your subject
If you plan on blurring things please make sure the subject is clear
Think outside the box to get unusual photos, take pictures from odd angles or upside down even, or look in unexpected places for a great new shot

9. Editing in photoshop
Using Filters and all things under Filter
Applying color layers
Vignettes – Filter – Render – Lighting Effects
Mirroring, flipping horizontally & vertically
Layering – Layer palette, transparency modes
Smudge, Dodge, Burn Tools

10. Using Adobe Premiere to edit
You will use Adobe Premiere to apply sound
Sound can be music or sound effects, but the music must be an instrumental
You can use this website to download free music:
Scroll down when you get to the home page and look for “Browse by Genre”
You will apply transitions in Premiere if needed
The final movie will be rendered out of Premiere for viewing
