Each year in May primary school pupils, parents and teachers across the country wear their happy shoes on their walk to school, to raise vital funds for Living Streets, the UK’s only charity for everyday walking. What is Living Streets and Happy Shoesday? Living Streets –the UK charity for every day walking. Living Streets’ annual one-day fundraising event for primary schools is Happy Shoesday Taking place on Tuesday 22 May 2018 [edit if required] [Happy Shoesday takes place on 22 May but schools can run it when it is convenient] Last year more than 300 schools participated in our one-day fundraising event and this year we want to make it bigger and better than ever! Why should your school participate? Reduce the number of cars on our roads = Cut traffic jams and toxic fumes Fewer cars at the school gates = a happy, healthy and safer walk to school

Why is it important? Walking to school = less pollution at the school gates Raising vital funds for Living Streets It is FUN Funds directly help Living Streets – the UK charity for everyday walking, to do work all over the UK, making our streets safer for all. Above all, the work Living Streets does creates communities designed for people, not cars.
