Road safety is a major priority for Total, which aims to be recognized as a benchmark for HSE Road accidents remain a leading cause of serious accidents at Total. All accidents can be prevented, especially through shared vigilance. #SafeDriver, an awareness campaign focusing on six topics identified by analyzing accidents over the past few years. WHY YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR VEHICLE BEFORE EACH TRIP
1 in 6 serious accidents is caused by a mechanical problem (Group scope) Checks to prevent accidents Walk around your vehicle and perform simple checks to detect any problems: tires that are damaged, underinflated or flat; leaks (traces of oil or water under the vehicle); condition of headlights and taillights, rearview mirrors, etc. Make sure that the deadline for vehicle technical inspection has not passed. Recommended regular checks: Water and oil levels; seat belts, headlights, taillights, horns and other audible warning devices in working order . WHY YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR VEHICLE BEFORE EACH TRIP
An obstructed, dirty or damaged windshield reduces visibility by up to 30% Simple practices to improve safety Objects on the dashboard or rear deck can obstruct the driver’s view and distract him or her. The windshield, headlights, taillights and rearview mirrors must be cleaned regularly.

Plus… Make sure that safety equipment, including safety vest, warning triangle, extinguishers and PPE, are on board and in good condition. Have a valid driver's license as per the vehicle type. Complete and be up to date on any mandatory training (regulatory and/or required by the company). Don't touch powered systems (electrical, pneumatic, etc.) in the vehicle without notifying your transporter.
