WELCOME TEI VISITOR At TEi we firmly believe the safety of everyone on our work worksites are our first priority.  We have a vision that sees all of our employees, contractors and visitors leave our work worksites without injury. Our vision demands the full support of all employees, contractors and visitors to contribute in delivering our vision.  In the following we have selected a number of important safety rules that will assist all who visit or work on a TEi work worksite.  We ask you take a little time to read this Induction Guide and help us deliver you safely off our work worksites. After you have completed this induction and understand your obligation, you are required to submit your details using the online verification form. >>Next 1

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES In an EMERGENCY you will hear 3 short bursts from an air horn, please proceed to the EMERGENCY ASSEMBLY AREA. BE AWARE: The lunch & break siren is one constant siren sound. 6 CODES OF PRACTICE A code of practice provides practical guidance for people who have work health and safety duties. These codes give guidance on: how to achieve the standards required under the Act effective ways to identify and manage risks. A code of practice applies to anyone who has a duty of care in the circumstances described in the code. In most cases, following an approved code of practice would achieve compliance with the health and safety duties in the Act, in relation to the subject matter of the code. Like regulations, codes of practice deal with particular issues and do not cover all hazards or risks which may arise. The health and safety duties require duty holders to. >>Next 6

Visitors are to follow all safety instructions given by a TEi Representative while on a TEi Work worksite. Safety Rules Comply with instructions and procedures provided for safety Present fit for work in accordance with relevant requirements Do not willfully or recklessly interfere/misuse anything provided for safety Be familiar with safety procedures and obtain required permits to work Protect your safety and do not willfully risk the safety of others Perform a risk assessment before each task Report any hazard or incident immediately to the person in control of work Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as per instructions Participate in health, safety, fitness for work and injury management programs Be trained and competent to perform the task >>Next 7

SIGN IN-REGISTRATION ALL visitors to sign in/out on the TEi Visitors Register located in the main office. Visitors who do not have a TEi Induction shall be escorted by an Inducted TEi Representative at all times and are not permitted to inspect or carry out work. >>Next

All visitors /clients will have the appropriate training and certification before inspecting any TEi work. SAFETY RESPONSBILITY Visitors will be responsible for having the highest regard for the safety of yourself and others. You must report anything that you notice to be unsafe to a TEi Representative. COMPLIANCE WITH LEGISLATION You are directed to comply with all applicable legislation, regulations, ordinances and by-laws, and with the Company’s requirements. These Acts and Regulations place obligations on employers and employees, and provide penalties for employers, individuals and subcontractors who fail to comply. >>Next 12

COMPLIANCE WITH TEI POLICIES You are required to comply with the Company’s Corporate Environment Policy, Safety Policy and Principles, and all location policies and rules. TEi Policies are located on all notice boards. If you want to know more ask the TEi Representative. >>Next 13

14 >>Next FITNESS FOR WORK
FITNESS FOR WORK You must advise us of any medical condition that may have an adverse effect on your work performance and the safety of others. Please ensure you notify your TEi Representative of any prescription medication you take. If you have a medical condition eg. diabetes that may require attention during working hours, you are required to let your TEi Representative know. The information will be recorded on a medical register. Illegal drugs and alcohol are not permitted on TEi Worksite TEi has regular random drug testing. Workers found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be immediately removed from the Worksite.  Disciplinary action and probable termination will result from any non negative test to drugs or alcohol. >>Next

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES An emergency is a situation that poses an immediate risk to health, life, property, or environment. In an evacuation, you will hear 3 short bursts from an air horn indicating there is an emergency, please evacuate to the Emergency Assembly Area located outside the front entry gate. CALMLY FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN BY STAFF OR THE ATTENDING FIRE OFFICERS. THE DUTY MANAGER WILL ACCOUNT FOR ALL OCCUPANTS AND REPORT MISSING PERSONS TO FIRE OFFICERS. DO NOT RE-ENTER THE BUILDING UNTIL YOU ARE TOLD IT IS SAFE TO DO SO BY THE EVACUATION COORDINATOR OR FIRE OFFICERS. >>Next

16 TEi have an annual practice evacuation drill.
EVACUATION DRILLS TEi have an annual practice evacuation drill. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with building layout and evacuation sign & diagram displayed throughout the workshop. You must be able to answer the following points. The location of the building’s escape routes A procedure for conducting members of the public to an exit and then to the designated assembly area Checking of all rooms for people The location of fire fighting equipment The location of fire alarms or equipment for warning of fire (TEi has a SIREN located in the main office) I understand where the EMERGENCY ASSEMBLY AREA is located Yes No

FIRST AID/CPR Seek help ! A First Aid Kit will be available in the workshop and main office. Qualified First Aid Officer available. Current first aiders are identified in the workshop office. Take the time to make yourself aware of the qualified first aiders. >>Next 17

RISK/HAZARD MANAGEMENT If you see a safety hazard on this Worksite, REPORT IT to the TEi Representative. Hazards TEi will identify specific workshop related hazards and emergency plans applicable to the work. However, you are required to make your own assessment of the hazards and risks and report them to the TEi Representative. Jewellery You may be directed to remove personal jewellery or take precautions to minimise the risk of causing bodily harm if it’s considered to be unsafe. Isolation of Equipment Equipment with isolation locks must not be operated and equipment with Warning tags must be operated in accordance with the conditions specified on the tag. Locks and tags must not be removed except in accordance with the direction of the TEi Representative. >>Next 19

20 >>Next PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT Visitors will be required to wear personal protective gear. Safety glasses and ear plugs are to be worn at all times. You will be required to wear steel caps boots, protective clothing at all times. On construction worksites hard hats are mandatory. Compulsory: Hearing Protection Steel Cap Boots Safety Glasses Protective Clothing PPE is signposted. >>Next 20

21 SMOKING TEi has a designated smoking area during break times. The area is signposted. All butts are to be placed into the disposal unit provided. There is no smoking or use of equipment involving a naked flame (ie. Lighter or matches) near paint thinners . No smoking in vehicles, plant or offices. >>Next

REPORTING OF INCIDENTS Visitors are required to report any incident or near miss sustained or witnessed regardless of how minor to the TEi Representative. Investigation and reporting will be carried out. >>Next 23

HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES If you are required to carry out work with hazardous substances/chemicals, do not proceed to perform any work without an SDS. If in doubt ask a TEi Representative to check the safety requirements for handling and working with any materials you consider to be a hazardous substance. All hazardous substances must have a Safety Data Sheet (SDS). >>Next 25

ENVIRONMENT TEi is committed to minimising the impact of our production on the environment. We aim to reduce wherever practical our wastage and general impact on the environment. Visitors are required to assist us with our environmental protection plan by maintaining pollution controls, placing all rubbish in appropriate bins, removing liquids or materials no longer required in the work area to bins and waste storage. No spillage of oils, fuels or polluted water allowed into drains or creeks. If spillage occurs, contact the TEi Representative who will instruct the correct action in accordance with the environmental management plan. The accredited person will investigate. Under no circumstances are you permitted to feed the wildlife around the worksite. Ensure that lids are placed securely on bins and food scraps are not left lying about. Process for Reporting Wildlife: Report wildlife to a TEi Representative who will contact the appropriate authorities. Visitors are not permitted to approach wildlife. SAFETY INFRINGEMENT WARNINGS Safety infringement warnings will be given to any person who disregards safety procedures, verbal instructions or reminders. If a serious breach of the Workplace Health and Safety Act or the TEi Safety Policy occurs, the offending person will be investigated and will be removed. >>Next 28
