Test on Friday, Feb. 2 germ winter verb flower girl first skirt third stir burn curve nurse fur church turn 2nd Grade Information SWIMMING: We have swimming lessons at the YMCA in Austin. Each second grader needs to bring their own swimming suit and towel every Tuesday. This should be in a plastic bag so that after the lessons, the wet suit and towel may go back into the plastic bag. They may bring goggles, go without, or purchase them at the Y for $5. This is optional. They can also bring a hairbrush. We will have lessons for 8 weeks. The bus will leave at 12:15 and returns at 2:45. 2ND GRADE SWIMMING SCHEDULE: January February 6, 13, 20, 27 VALENTINE’S PARTY will be on Wednesday, Feb. 14 from 1:15-2:45. If any parent willing to plan the party, donate food, or make up treat bags may contact your child’s teacher. VALENTINE’S BOX: Each student is asked to decorate at home a Valentine’s box and bring it to school by Friday, Feb. 9. The box may be a shoe box, a cereal box, a Kleenex box, an ice cream bucket, an oatmeal box, or any box approximately that size. Students may decorate the box with wrapping paper, butcher paper, aluminum foil, stickers, hearts, etc. Maybe get some fun ideas on the Pinterest web site. Students may bring their valentines beginning Monday, Feb. 12. MN ZOO: The second grade will take their annual class trip to the MN Zoo on Wednesday, May 16. Parents are welcome to come, but will have to drive or share a ride with another parent(s) on their own. We will leave approximately 8:20 and return around 4:30. The cost will be $6 per child and $12 per adult. We are just letting people know so that some may adjust time off of work, or schedule the cost in their budget. More information will come at the end of April or the beginning of May.
