Affinity Groups Our United Way Affinity Groups are comprised of passionate and dedicated volunteers who form strong professional networks, raise money and create positive change in targeted segments of our community. By donating $250 to United Way, you can join one or all four affinity groups. Year-Round Engagement
Our biggest champions are companies who are able to instill a year-round workplace engagement plan with United Way in respect to communication, education, involvement, and volunteerism. Activities include: Promoting Affinity Groups Day of Caring United Way Funded Partner site visits Individual volunteers On-site volunteer opportunities Participate in a leadership position on a United Way committee Exclusive Campaign Manager events such as forums, round tables, and after-work socials are additional opportunities to stay connected as well. Funded Partner Site Visit: We are excited to offer opportunities for United Way donors, volunteers and stakeholders to visit our funded partners. See firsthand the impact these partners make in our community! We will send out updated schedules on a monthly basis to register through Eventbrite. Please note, most sites have limitations to the numbers of guests they can host. If a date is not showing on this registration page, it indicates the visit is full. Day of Caring: Please note, this year’s event is sold out! #1 Recruit A Team Don’t run your campaign alone. Recruit a committee of enthusiastic, resourceful and committed employees to help you plan the best possible campaign! Diversity is important. Involve people from various departments in your organization, such as marketing, human resources, payroll, etc. Set up regular committee meetings and delegate responsibilities. Keep your campaign strategically timed and goal-oriented. #3 Set A Challenging Yet Attainable Goal
Be ambitious but realistic so your company has an attainable goal to reach. #4 Plan Your Employee Campaign Activities
Provide multiple opportunities for employees to learn more about how they can get involved! Your campaign can include a formal kickoff with a guest speaker from one of our funded partners and other special events that match the culture of your company. For maximum impact, be sure to invite your UW Rep so we can showcase the work happening in the community and help you share stories of people who are impacted. Volunteering is a great way to get introduced to UWGT’s community impact efforts and create employee comradery! The average gift of someone who donates is $331*. Set a meeting designed to educate organizational leaders about the benefits of giving at the Leadership Donor level. #9 Finalize Your Campaign
If you are not utilizing ePledge, the steps below outline the appropriate measures for closing your campaign: Ensure all pledge forms are collected by your established deadline. Follow-up with employees who may have been on vacation or out of the office and missed the opportunity to pledge Contact your UW Rep to arrange a brief, 15 minute meeting. Going through the pledge forms together before sealing the envelope can save a lot of time in the long run! Remind donors to keep a copy of the pledge form for tax purposes.
