3. Dual Enrollment Program
Dual enrollment is a statutory obligation, F.S  
Dual enrollment is an acceleration program in which Grade 6-12 students can earn credit toward high school completion and toward a career certificate or an associate or baccalaureate degree at the same time.
Dual enrollment courses are weighted toward grade point averages in the same way as are AP/IB/AICE.

4. Dual Enrollment Program
During the school year, there were a total of 21,867 instances of enrollment in DE courses with 6,808 students.
Eligible students are exempt from the cost of tuition, fees, and instructional materials.
Utilized as part of the HS accountability formula.

5. Dual Enrollment Institutions
Currently M-DCPS has articulation agreements with the following institutions:
Miami-Dade College (MDC)
Florida International University (FIU)
University of Florida (UF)
Embry Riddle University (ERU)
St. Thomas University(STU)
Florida Memorial University (FMU)

6. Dual Enrollment Eligibility
(1) Enrolled in a course of study which will fulfill requirements for high school graduation; (2) 3.0 cumulative un-weighted GPA; (3) minimum standardized college placement score; (4) satisfy any course prerequisites; and (5) meet any additional admissions criteria set by the post-secondary institution.
Flexibility with GPA based on the post-secondary institution.

7. Dual Enrollment Eligibility
Minimum standardized college placement score Achieve a minimum score on a common placement test pursuant to State Board Rule 6A , Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.) which includes; PERT Scores: Reading 106, Writing 103, Mathematics 114 SAT Scores: Reading 440, Mathematics 440 ACT Scores: Reading 19, English 17, Mathematics 19
Florida Statute requires students to meet the following eligibility criteria in order to participate in the Dual Enrollment Program:
Be enrolled as a student in a Florida public or nonpublic secondary school (grades 6-12), or in a home education program;
Have a 3.0 unweighted high school grade point average (GPA) to enroll in college credit courses;
Achieve a minimum score on a common placement test pursuant to State Board Rule 6A , Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.) which includes;
PERT Scores:
Reading 106, Writing 103, Mathematics 114
SAT Scores:
Reading 440, Mathematics 440
ACT Scores:
Reading 19, English 17, Mathematics 19
Meet any additional eligibility criteria specified by the postsecondary institution in the Dual Enrollment Articulation Agreement; and
Cannot be scheduled to graduate prior to the completion of the dual enrollment course.

8. DE Delivery Models
Traditional Dual Enrollment-student take courses on the college/university campus; district pays the standard tuition rate
Dual Enrollment on the HS campus with a visiting professor; school pays professor fee
Dual Enrollment on the HS campus with an
M-DCPS credentialed teacher; school pays
monitoring/oversight fee per course
Dual Enrollment Online-summer only (free)
Facilitated Online Dual Enrollment on the HS campus; school pays per course fee

11. Selecting Dual Enrollment Courses: HS Accountability
HS equivalency and course approval criteria is set by the State Equivalency list. Updated and published annually.
Use courses already approved on Curriculum Bulletin:
Courses can be added to CB-1 only if they are approved by DOE for Dual Enrollment and are on the Statewide Course Numbering System for the institution.

12. Selecting Dual Enrollment Courses: HS Accountability
Consider student’s interests and other courses taken that may earn college credit.
Consider teachers that can be credentialed.
When offering on the HS campus, identify the DE course pairings
Two courses per term continues to be the recommended model in order to ensure student success.

13. Academic Advisement
AP, IB, AICE generate weighted FTE based on student passing rate. Funds provide teachers bonuses, school funds, test fees, and professional development
Students earn college credits based on AP, IB, AICE passing scores (see DOE list for state colleges/universities)
Dual Enrollment courses should complement AP, IB, AICE courses and academies
Students’ should consider their post-secondary goals when selecting courses

DE courses offered on the high school campus (with M-DCPS teacher and professor)

This is probably the most troublesome of all matters related to DE: the proper scheduling of DE courses in DCIS.

Ordering: relevant when course is taught on the high school campus
Distribution: student goes on his/her own to bookstore or adult from school goes to bookstore
Collection: Back to bookstore for a buy-back credit or on the shelf to be used again

Best Practices for Issuing Grades in DE courses in ISIS- See WB #19213 (7/28/16)
MDC: (Product# SRTS12P) Grades are available for viewing and/or printing via our M-DCPS CTL-D Web Viewer or CICS REPT for 180 days. 
FIU: Grades are retrieved via secure site and ed to the Administration.
Students continued participation is contingent on performance:
MDC: Maintain a 3.0 HS GPA and 2.0 College GPA.
FIU: 3.0 HS (On HS campus waiver ) and 3.0 University GPA

17. Course participation and grades
DE courses meet the curricular expectations and are at the same depth and rigor of non-dual enrollment postsecondary instruction, including those offered on the high school campus.  Upon being admitted into the DE program, students must adhere to college/university student's rights and responsibilities, course schedule, grading evaluation process, academic dishonesty, and disciplinary procedures.
Dual enrollment courses become a part of a student's permanent college transcript; thus grades will become part of permanent high school and college transcripts.
Dual enrollment courses are not repeatable.
There is no grade forgiveness for dual enrollment courses.

18. Middle School 1000 level courses in the elective areas
Courses in which the middle school student has demonstrated high school competency
Dual Enrollment courses are not repeatable. If students completed a course in middle school, they can not take the course in high school, even if it is part of the master schedule.
Recommended courses for Middle School students.
1000 level courses in the elective areas
For the SLS course you must have a PERT score but there is no minimum score that must be met.

19. Early Admissions FIU MDC
Grade 12 students complete up to 30 college credits, full time on the college/university campus
Students are not withdrawn in DSIS
Courses are entered in PF1
Ensure that graduation requirements are met
