Making the Right Decision
You Have Two Decisions: Which Types: Academic or Applied or Locally Developed? Which Electives? You get to pick 3 for grade 10.
32
Making the Right Decision Academic, Applied, or Locally developed?
Consider: Proven Success: What was I successful in this year and before? Pathways: Where do I want to go after high school? College? University? Both? Apprenticeship? Workplace? Specific Program Requirements: What post-secondary programs am I interested in? The right combination of academic and applied may get you there! All university programs need Grade 12 University English All college programs need Grade 12 C or U English For example: media studies: does not require academic math or science business: requires academic math but not academic science
33
Making the Right Decision Elective Courses
Consider: Previous successes – Are you good at French? Take it in grade 10! Areas of interest – Love art? Keep taking it! Examine prerequisites – Grade 11 & 12 course descriptions in Myblueprint Diploma requirements – Make sure you have a credit in all three “Groups” “How Do I Make Decisions on Grade 10 Courses?” – For more information, take a look at that handout (pink page)

Some spots are meant for your electives.
Some spots are for compulsory courses, You need to choose courses for Grade 10! Your Grade 9 courses will be filled in. This should be what you see.
41
Click on an empty spot to add a course.
This is Grade 9 English, already added. It will give you a description and list of prerequisites. Then you click here to add the course to your plan. Pick Grade 10 English for next year.
42
Fill in all your courses.
I filled it in with Grade 10 French, because I want to take it as an elective. The Careers spot is still empty! You should fill it in with one of your electives. Here’s one weird spot: After you fill in Civics & Careers with “CIVCAR”… You must also choose two alternate elective courses, in case the ones you wanted are unavailable. This is now a complete Grade 10 course selection. All the spots are filled in with Compulsory and Elective courses.
43
At the top of your Plan, click Review Course Selections to make sure everything’s okay.
44
Click Submit Course Selections to submit courses to your school
This is good; there are no issues with the courses I chose! Remember: once you click on Submit Course Selections, you CANNOT make any changes in MyBlueprint!
