LESSON OUTCOME: Students will gain a basic understanding of specific automated systems, their capabilities and application/use for providing HR support. Students will be able to identify the HR system or application that supports HR core competencies and key functions. Students will demonstrate the ability to access and navigate select HR systems. ALA Professional Competence – GLO 13 & 14 INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGY: Direct / Collaborative / Interactive Instruction METHODS OF INSTRUCTION: Structured overview Demonstration Drill and Practice Inquiry Simulation ENABLING LEARNING OBJECTIVE ACTION: Identify Human Resources (HR) Systems CONDITIONS: In a classroom environment, given a computer with access to Web-Based Training (WBT) courses, a User ID and password, student handout, HR systems presentation overview and awareness of Operational Environment (OE) variables and actors. STANDARD: Successfully complete the WBT courses and overview. Identify HR enabling systems/applications used to provide HR support with 70% accuracy. ACADEMIC HOURS: 16.0 LEARNING ACTIVITIES Lesson introduction Army Knowledge Online (AKO) Defense Casualty Information Processing System (DCIPS) Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) / Real-time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS) Electronic Military Personnel Office (eMILPO) Force Management System (FMS) Integrated Personnel and Pay System-Army (IPPS-A) Enlisted Distribution and Assignment System (EDAS) Total Officer Personnel Information Management System (TOPMIS) Interactive Personnel Records Management System (iPERMS) ASSESSMENT Students are required to complete a knowledge-based assessment delivered via the Blackboard Academic Suite and obtain a passing score of 70% or higher.

EDAS Purpose and Functions
The Enlisted Distribution and Assignment System (EDAS) is a real time, interactive automated system used to distribute and assign the enlisted force Issues assignment instructions via automated data transmission (ADTRANS) that arrives in the field as eMILPO output Provides EPMD and field users authorizations and assigned/projected strengths by MOS, Grade, SQI, ASI, and Language Provides enlisted strength management information to field commands Provides interactive update capability to post information directly to the TAPDB for authorized users, including field users, to delete or defer Soldiers

Password Standards All passwords must be 8-12 characters in length May not have repeating characters May not have vowels Is case sensitive and must have at least 2 alpha characters, 2 numeric characters, and 2 special characters of your choice, as long as they follow these rules (Note: The ! characters can’t be next to each other nor can # and $ or % and ^ etc, etc.) All passwords are valid for a maximum of 60 days A history of 4 passwords is kept by the system

IPERMS provides encrypted, end-to-end, secure, remote access to, input to, and retrieval of, documents from the Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) and other personnel folders/subfolders via the Army Knowledge Online (AKO) portal. The authoritative source documents/images are managed and stored in a Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) meeting the current National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) standard for archiving images of documents.
