Percentages are all around us. They are so common in our everyday lives that we may not even realise when we are using them! Some everyday uses of percentages include:
finance (interest rates)
weather (chance of rainfall)
labelling (nutritional information)
data displays (survey results)
sport (player statistics).

A percentage is another way of expressing a fraction (a part of a whole).
The word percentage actually means ‘per hundred’.
One whole is represented by 100 parts out of 100. This is written as 100%.
Percentages can also be expressed as fractions and as decimals.
