5. #1 – You Have to Know the Context
You Need to Know “Who” is Talking or “Who” They are Talking to.
You Need to Know “Why” They Are Saying What They are Saying.

6. Isa. 14:12
How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who have weakened the nations!
Context = 14:4
Who = Babylon

7. Matt. 24:6-7, 21, 27-30
And you will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end.

Your Interpretation of a Passage Can’t Contradict or Ignore Another Passage.

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
not as a result of works, that no one should boast.
James 2:18, 26
For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

10. #3 – You Have to Disagree With Modern Culture (When Necessary)

If We Take This Literally We Will Defy Our Own Culture.

It With the Context.
It Agrees With All Other Scriptures.
You Are Willing to Go Against Your Own Culture to Follow God’s Command.
