Appendix: Definitions
The data presented in this press release is from Dealogic, Thomson Financial and Ernst & Young. For the purposes of the Annual IPO survey and semi-annual press release, an IPO is defined as: An IPO is a company's first offering of equity to the public. Only those IPOs for which Dealogic, Thomson Financial and Ernst & Young hold data regarding the issue date, trading date and proceeds are included. IPOs which have not yet been priced, are excluded. The issue date is the day the offer is priced and allocations are subsequently made. The trading date is the date on which the security first trades. The issuers domicile nation is defined as the company’s incorporation nation or their operations nation when the issuer’s nominal headquarters is in a tax haven geography. Proceeds are defined as the amount of fund raised including any over allotment sold. IPOs have been attributed to the domicile nation of the company having an IPO. The primary exchange on which they listed is as defined by Dealogic, Thomson Financial or Ernst & Young research. A foreign listing is where the stock exchange nation of the company differs from the company's domicile nation (ie issuer's nation).
