LAB SAFETY

Stay with your group at all times.
Only one student from the group may be out of their seat at a time to get supplies, or to complete a procedure. Do not wander around the classroom and/ or distract other students. Keep your voices to a normal indoor level. No running or goofing around.

6. Handle all equipment properly in a safe manner.
7. Clean all surfaces and equipment at the end of each experiment and return them to their proper location. (Clean up after yourself.) 8. Do not leave the lab until you are dismissed by your teacher. 9. Do not wear loose clothing and keep your hair tied up. 10. Clear the lab table of any personal belongings.

11. Follow all written and verbal instructions.
12. Report all accidents immediately. 13. Do not pour anything other than water into or down the sink. 14. No eating or drinking. 15. Remember to handle hot material carefully!

16. Do not perform unauthorized experiments.
17. Keep your hands away from your face, eyes, and mouth while doing the experiment. 18. Wash hands with soap and water after the experiment is complete. 19. Never remove materials or equipment from the lab area. You are responsible for the material and equipment you use.

21. Consider all chemicals dangerous and handle with caution.
22. Never pick up broken glass with your bare hands. Report broken glassware immediately. 23. Handle glassware with care. Hot glass looks the same as cold glass. 24. If instructed to smell a substance, do it in the appropriate manner by waving or “wafting” the air around it toward your nose.
