Sentence ONE Sentence 1- Subject + Verb
Subject- noun or pronoun that tells what the sentence is about Noun- a person, place, thing, or idea Pronoun- a word that takes the place of a noun: Example- he, she, it, they Verb- a word that states action or a state of being

Sentence TWO Sentence 2- Subject + Action Verb + Direct Object
Action Verb- verb that tells what something or someone does Direct Object- answers the question what? or whom? after an action verb EXAMPLE- He washed the car.

Sentence THREE Sentence Three- Subject + Action Verb + Indirect Object + Direct Object Indirect Object- tells to whom? or for whom? the verb’s action is done. EXAMPLE: He threw Matt the ball. BE CAREFUL: an adjective is not an indirect object. FOR EXAMPLE: He threw Matt’s ball.

Sentence FOUR Sentence Four- Subject + Linking Verb + Predicate Nominative Linking Verb- joins the subject of the sentence with an adjective or nominative EXAMPLE: became, were Predicate Nominative- follows a linking verb and renames the subject Example: John was the captain.
