You may remember the bumper sticker a few years ago which said, "In case of the Rapture, this car will be without a driver." The rapture theory is part and parcel of premillennial speculation. It states that before a seven year period called, "the great tribulation," the saints will be snatched, or the righteous will be raptured from the earth to be with Christ. After this time, Christ will come to the earth with His church and commence His 1,000 year reign in Jerusalem.
When Jesus came to the earth, he came with the intention of establishing an earthly kingdom.
The Jews rejected Jesus and had him crucified.
God instituted and alternative plan, to establish the spiritual kingdom - the church instead.
The church age will last until the earthly kingdom is established.
At some time in the near future, Jesus will come in the flesh and silently raise the righteous dead and rapture the living saints from the earth.
7 years of tribulation will be experience on earth with Satan is loosed during this tribulation period
Jesus will return to earth, bringing his saints with him. The battle of Armageddon will be fought and Satan will be defeated. Jesus will establish an earthly kingdom over which he will reign for 1000 years in Jerusalem.
At the end of the 1000 years, the wicked dead will be raised and judgement will be given to all men
The righteous will go to heaven and the wicked will go to hell.

May 21, 2011 will mark the second coming of Christ, or at least that’s what some Christian groups believe.
The date was calculated by Harold Camping, the leader of an independent Christian ministry called Family Radio Worldwide, which is based in Oakland, Calif. Camping's date is based on his interpretation of the Bible.
Camping’s group isn’t the only one following his apocalyptic prediction though. A number of loosely affiliated websites and radio broadcasts have created a movement independent of churches that have organized to proclaim the day as the end of the world.
