What do I include? Sketches of ideas for artworks – some you will make and some you will never make. Writing – about your project ideas, as well as other reflections Drawings (Studies) of the objects or materials you are inspired by - this helps you to understand them and decide what to do for a project Samples of materials – yarns, fabrics, etc. can be taped directly into the book Anything that inspires you - images of other artists work, places you love, song lyrics…

Other Tips: Make it personal – It is not just a book, it’s your book. Giving your individual perspective will give you a reason to care about it, and make the sketchbook stronger. Daily Use – Keeping your sketchbook with you ensures that it will be a record of all your ideas, you never know when an project solution will pop in your head. When in doubt, put it in - more is better than less in this case. Things may seem unrelated at first, but hindsight is 20/20.
