10 Why is the Library supporting online reading lists?
1. To improve the student experience Makes core texts available in sufficient quantities (print) or accessible (electronic) Provides students with easy and consistent access to core reading materials 2. To make it easier for academics to use Library services Single entry point to Library services Saves time – lists are easy to maintain and can be rolled over each year

11 A single entry point to Library services
Course organiser Resource lists Process E-reserve scans Process book orders Distribute books across Reserve, Short and Standard Loan Course materials available to students

12 How the Library purchases resources for teaching
Decisions based on student numbers and priority of resources** *New books only **Exceptions for MVM

13 The small print The latest available edition will be added to a list if held, or purchased if not (if you would like a specific edition make this clear) The Library has an e-preference policy If a title is out of print a single copy will be sourced (if possible) 10% of a book, or one chapter/article, can be scanned New books will be located in the relevant site library for the course

14 Requesting scans (E-reserve)
The E-reserve team produces copyright compliant digital extracts of course readings for academic staff, to support learning and teaching. E-reserve can reproduce extracts of up to:  one chapter of a book one article of a journal issue one paper of one set of conference proceedings one report of a single case from a report of judicial proceedings one short story or one poem or one play of not more than 10 pages in an anthology of short stories, poems or plays Or 10% of the whole (whichever is the greater). Digitisation (scan) requests can be made directly from a resource list using the ‘Digitisation’ tag and adding notes (chapter details or page numbers) to ‘Library discussion’

15 If you want to use Resource Lists in 2018/19
Option 2 Create your own list by 23rd July Use tags to indicate priority and request scans Use ‘Library discussion’ to provide further information Send list to library Option 1 Send your list to the Library by 9th July Fill in the online form: Indicate priority of list items Provide details of scan requests
