My daughter’s experience with 4-H.
8 years in 4-H and 3 years in FFA. American Degree Afraid of public speaking to comfortable in front of peers and adults Found a passion for livestock Knowledge of various livestock animals Confidence and success

The 4-H Pledge I pledge.... my Head to clearer thinking, my Heart to greater loyalty, my Hands to larger service, my Health to better living. For my Club, my community, my country, and my world.

My Head to Clearer Thinking-
The 4-H pledge was written by Otis Hall, state 4-H leader of Kansas and was adopted by the National 4-H camp in Washington DC in 1927 and had remain unchanged until 1973 when they added “and My World”. I pledge: My Head to Clearer Thinking- • Strives for intelligent behavior • Develops lifelong skills for living • Offers experiences in the decision making process • Teaches “how” to think rather than “what” to think My Heart to Greater Loyalty - • Instills trust and respect • Strengthens personal standards by which to live • Helps to understand others who may seem “different” • Develops lasting friendships

My Hands to Larger Service -
• Provides a working experience • Teaches there is dignity in work • Develops eye and hand coordination • Instills a concern for others through community service projects My Health to Better Living - • Relates to both physical and mental health • Teaches wise use of leisure time • Helps with decisions of career choice • Develops an understanding about the need for a clean and healthy environment For My Club, My Community, My Country, and My World - • Provides learning experiences that are worldwide • Teaches that you are a part and that you belong • Shows that a relationship between community and world does exist • Develops citizenship by acting responsively

What to Expect Parents actively involved in all meetings and projects!
Clover Buds ages 5-8 (age as of January 1st) Livestock- can show only small at fair Junior/Senior (HS) members ages 9- 19 Parents actively involved in all meetings and projects! Need parent leaders/ co-leaders for each project (including Clover Buds) Parent leaders must attend orientation and will be fingerprinted Yearly cost: $46 (hat and tie/scarf: $40) 80% attendance- monthly club meetings & minimum 6 project meetings per year Monthly meetings will be on campus; Project meetings on campus or leader’s home

What to Expect Record book
Raising livestock animals- major time and money commitment 1-3 projects for the first year Can transfer from another club once the club is established Can use facilities, however, not the farm yet due to safety and liability

How to Get Involved Fill out “Family Info/ Project Interests” form
We cannot guarantee that we will offer all of the projects you are interested in. New members fill out enrollment form
