Current UKC King County is the local government for more than a quarter-million people living in unincorporated King County (UKC). Taken together, the UKC would be the second largest city in Washington—larger than Spokane. As the local service provider, King County currently provides such critical services as: ● Road Services ● Planning and Permitting (including inspections, business licenses, on-site sewage systems, and plumbing and gas piping) ● Storm water ● Animal Services ● Parks and Recreation ● Emergency Management ● Public Safety ● District Court Red denotes Seattle City limits. Gray, other incorporated areas. White, UKC/rural.

Proposed Dept. The Proposed Department of Local Services (DLS) would include: ● Permitting and Environmental Review ● On-site Septic System and Plumbing and Gas Piping programs ● Road Services and the King County Airport ● Community Service Area program Service Partnerships: ● Service partnerships would be formed for other County rural/ UKC services not within the proposed department Other Proposed Reorganization Actions: ● Fleet Management Division would move to the Dept. of Executive Services ● Marine Division would move to the new Metro Transit Dept.
