Space -Using sketchbooks to collect and record
History : the Space Race Literacy will be based on ‘Talk for Writing’, in which children learn the features of a text and use them as a model before creating their own versions of a text type. There will be a strong emphasis on grammar and spelling. Art -Using sketchbooks to collect and record -improve and develop techniques including: drawing, painting, marbling, chalks to create texture, watercolours. -Van Gogh’s artwork -Peter Thorpe artwork -responding to stimuli such as music and poetry Computing (UKS2) Using the internet search engines; skim and select information; edit information Creating and publishing using Word, Publisher and Powerpoint. Use of spreadsheets. Computing and programming Maths will be based on the new National Curriculum and will focus on reasoning. Music - Perform with control & expression solo & in ensembles -”Space Jam”, “Moon Round” - Improvise & compose using dimensions of music - Blast Off music - Keyboard skills RE Year 5: exploring commitment in the hindu religion Year 6: exploring the meanings of the 5 pillars of Islam Geography -Name & locate counties, cities, regions & features of UK -Understand latitude, longitude, Equator, hemispheres, tropics, polar circles & time zones Design & Technology (UKS2) -Use research criteria to develop products which are fit for purpose and aimed at specific groups -Use annotated sketches, cross-section diagrams & computer-aided design -Analyse & evaluate existing products and improve own work Science describe the movement of the moon relative to the Earth describe the sun, Earth and moon as approximately spherical bodies describe the movement of the Earth and other planets relative to the sun in the solar system use the idea of the Earth’s rotation to explain day and night and the apparent movement of the sun across the sky
