Subject–Verb Agreement with Compound Subjects that use “and”
When “and” is used in the compound subject, the verb must agree with the plural subject. The lion and the mouse help each other. The pitcher of juice and the cups are on the counter.

Subject–Verb Agreement with Compound Subjects that use “or” or “nor”
When “or” or “nor” is used in the compound subject, the verb must agree with the last subject before the verb. Math or English is our next subject.
