There is a section in this part of the book where the camp is bombed by American planes. This raises these questions: how much did the world know about the camps, and if they knew, why did they not do more to stop it?

4 What It Took to Survive As many people have pointed out, it was not necessarily the good people who survived. In fact, it was often the people who were willing to do anything who survived. Now, alone or with a partner, comb through the text and jot down in your reader’s notebook some of the strategies and tactics that people used to survive.

5 If   Surviving Auschwitz So, if you were compiling a “survival manual” for the camp, what would be included?

6 The question is, can we judge them for their actions?
