Structures of Life Cells Tissues Organs Organ systems Organisms
Populations Communities Ecosystems
3
Inside the Ecosystems Habitat- place where an organism/species grows and lives Niche- function or role of a given organism within its ecosystem Limiting Factors- anything that controls the population from growing larger Carrying Capacity- maximum number of organisms that an area can support
4
Biotic vs. Abiotic Abiotic factors- are the non-living things of the Earth which affect the ability of living organisms to survive in an environment. Biotic factors- relating to the living organisms in the environment
5
What are you? Producer- organisms that use the sun for food and energy
Consumer- an animal that eats plants(producers) Decomposer- 0rganisms that get their energy from breaking down dead organisms as well as from animal and plant waste products (fungi) Herbivore- animal that mainly eats plants Carnivore- meat eating animal Omnivore- an animal that eats other animals and plants
