Improving Site Characterization in New Jersey Allan Motter, NJDEP
2
Ongoing Activities Promoting the Triad Approach Updating guidance
Providing training for staff and consultants Networking with NEWMOA and ITRC
3
Concerns Improper sampling techniques/sample collection
Lack of sufficient horizontal and vertical delineation data Improper use of field analytical methods Inadequate reporting of data
4
Field Analytical Methods
Field methods (for all matrices) can be used for the following conditions: For contaminant delineation, if contaminant identity is known For SI sampling (10+ samples); to verify that up to 50% of samples are clean Lab confirmation for 50% of samples
5
Field Analytical Methods
Field methods shall NOT be used: To verify contaminant identity To verify clean zones
