1. David Amar World Center for North African Jewish Heritage
David Amar, a wealthy Moroccan Jewish businessman who served as financial adviser to King Hassan II, the father of Muhammad VI, the present king of Morocco.

2. The building was constructed in the mid-19th century by Rabbi David Ben Shimon, founder of the community of North African Jews in Jerusalem . It was reconstructed in authentic Moroccan style - complete with an Andalusian-style garden, water fountains, carved and painted doors, alabaster carvings that are part of the Moorish décor , and colored original zellige* tiles . The work was made by artisans specially brought from Morocco to Israel . The center , which was officially inaugurated in June 2011, offers seminars, lectures, poetry readings, liturgy, exhibitions and other activities inside the building and in the garden.

13. Zellige tile is one of the main characteristics of the Moroccan architecture. It consists of geometrical mosaics made from ceramic used mainly as an ornament for walls, ceilings, fountains, floors, pools, tables, etc

21. The mosaics are everywhere – as inlays on staircases, at the base of columns, on the floors and fountains, even in the elevators and bathrooms.

An extra floor ( the 4th floor) was added as a continuation of the original architectural style . Here there are two corners with some traditional furnishing where you can rest and admire different ornamental and ritual objects imported from Morocco .
