Across the country, a growing number of public housing authorities (PHAs) have become integral to their community’s efforts to prevent and end homelessness. This willingness to partner and engage in collaborative planning is critical to both local and national success in ending homelessness. United States Interagency Council on Homelessness

PLANNING

Two of the most important ways that PHAs can participate in collaborative planning to end homelessness is through participation in a funder collaborative and in a Continuum of Care.

FUNDER COLLABORATIVE

Funder collaboratives –links critical funding resources to achieve a common set of goals. It is a formal partnerships among public agencies or private funders, such as foundations or both. PHAs can contribute to funder collaboratives by contributing housing resources, such as vouchers. PHAs can participate in funder collaboratives to significantly increase the impact of their resources and programs.

CONTINUUM OF CARE

The Continuum of Care - a community plan to organize and deliver housing and services to meet the specific needs of people who are homeless as they move to stable housing and maximum self-sufficiency. It includes action steps to end homelessness and prevent a return to homelessness.
