WHAT IS A BALANCED DIET ? For being healthy & strong , you must eat the right amount of food containing the right amount of each component . Such food is called balanced food . A meal in which you eat balanced food is called a balanced meal . A group of balanced meals taken during the day is called a balanced diet .

CARBOHYDRATES & FATS Carbohydrates: Fats:
The substance that is used as the chief energy food is carbohydrates. Rice, Wheat and bread are rich in Carbohydrates. Fats: Fats are high energy source substances and contain less oxygen in them . When they are oxidized they produce more energy. Oil, Ghee, Milk , Butter , Cheese etc., are rich in Fats.

PROTEINS Proteins help in digestion and in building body materials. Some proteins help in repairing damaged parts replacing worn our or dead cells and tissues. Proteins are generally polymers in nature. Enzymes belong to the class of proteins. Meat,fish, eggs, milk and all pulses are rich in proteins.

VITAMINS & MINERALS Vitamins help enzymes to do their jobs and hence called co-enzymes. Vitamins help in keeping our eyes, teeth & gums and bones healthy. Minerals help in the formation of blood, bones and teeth. They usually contain elements like phosphorous, sulphur, nitrogen etc., and metals like sodium,iron, potassium,etc.,.Fruits, Vegetables Milk, etc are rich contents of Vitamins and Minerals.

WATER Water: Water is the essence of life. It is needed in the digestion of food, to get rid of waste material, and for many other purposes. Water is essential for body reactions and 60 to 70% of the body weight is simply because of water it has.
