3 What are the Goals of the Writing Center?
Welcome all Students, Staff, Faculty, and Alumni to The Writing Center To Create Stronger, Proactive, and Engaged Writers To Demonstrate Writing as a Process To Generate a Collaborative Learning Resource for the CLU Community To Create a Space Designed to Support Writing Across the Disciplines To Serve as a Center where Writers can Develop Strategies, Approaches, and Habits to Improve Writing Practices

4 WHERE is the Writing Center?
Location: Pearson Library, Darling Collaboration Suite #132 Directions: Enter the Library main entrance and walk straight back into the Writing Center Summer Hours: M-F (12pm-5pm)

5 What DOES the Writing Center do?
WHAT WE DO 1:1 and Group Meetings with trained Consultants Work on writing skills at any stage of the process In-person or Online Writing Workshops and Studios Social Events WHAT WE DON’T DO We are not an “editing service” where students come to get papers “corrected” or graded. We are not a place to drop off your paper for corrections

6 Guidelines for Appointments
• Book appointments online through MyCLU • Up to 2 appointments per day (not back-to-back) • Up to 2 hours per week ~ Other Guidelines ~ • In-person and online consultations • 30-minute or 1-hour appointments available • Individual and group* projects accommodated  *all group members must attend a group-project/paper consultation

9 How do I PREPARE for the Writing Center?
Bring the Following Materials: Your Assignment Prompt from Class Your written material (notes, brainstorms, any drafts, ideas, and lists) Specific Questions for the Writing Consultant

10 What If I Need To Reschedule?
Please cancel within the system or by phone before your session to make room for other writers. If you miss two appointments without cancelling ahead, you will be temporarily locked out of the scheduling system.
