2. What is English 2070/4070
English 2070/4070 is an online writing lab using the MyWritingLabPlus program that generates individualized lesson plans for each student
This course focuses primarily on improving writing and grammar skills
This is a purely online course
You are able to access it from any computer with internet access
There are NO required texts or access codes
You get to work at your own pace and on your own time
This course does NOT use Blackboard

3. Course Requirements
You will be required to first complete the Path Builder (Diagnostic Test)
Then for each unit of Eng 2070/4070 you are enrolled in you must complete 20 topics (i.e. if enrolled in 2 units, you will need to complete 40 topics)
These topics will be of your individual choosing from the topic list
Lastly, you will want to complete the Mastery Check (Post-Diagnostic Test) to see how much you have improved over the course

4. How do I gain access?
Most students will automatically have access to the program via the MyWritingLabPlus fee built into your tuition
If you are a fee waiver student, you will need to pay the MyWritingLabPlus fee at the cashier’s office
After paying, you should have access within 24 hours
If you don’t have access, please contact the MyWritingLabPlus Headquarters

5. First time logging in
If this is your first time logging in since December 15, 2016, you will need to reset your password.
Remember to use Firefox or Google Chrome as your web browser!

You can now sign in to the MyWritingLabPlus website with your new password

9. Signing in
Note for students who have to pay the MyWritingLabPlus fee: once you pay the fee, press the ‘sync’ button and your class link will appear
Be sure to click on ENGL 2070/4070
You may see multiple links, one of which may be Free Range.
DO NOT CLICK ON FREE RANGE
Any work completed will not count as credit towards your Engl 2070/4070.

To access your work, click on “Writing, Grammar, and Research”

12. Completing Your Work Then click on “Learning Path” to access your work
First, start by completing the Path Builder.

After completing the Path Builder, you will be prompted with any modules you mastered indicated gold star

14. Completing Your Work
Once you complete the Path Builder, you will have access to the modules
These are modules, and within the modules are the topics you’ll need to complete

Topics in these modules with gold stars count towards your topic goal.

16. Mastering a Topic
These are four examples of topics you can complete in order to fulfill the course requirements.
These are the five activities you must complete to master each topic.

17. Mastering a Topic The Overview is an explanation of the topic.
You must watch the entire Animation in order to receive full credit. If you do not watch the Animation all the way through, you won’t get a passing score.
The Animation is a short video about the topic.

18. Mastering a Topic
Be sure to click “Submit Activity” after you have completed any exercise.
Recall 1 and 2 consist of 10 multiple choice questions about the topic.

19. Mastering a Topic
You may also save your progress for later and pick up where you left off.
The Apply consists of revising a paragraph using the knowledge you have learned.
Again, be sure to submit your attempt.

20. Mastering a Topic
Hints are available if you get stuck. Taking a hint will cost you a one point deduction from your total score.
Be sure to read the directions carefully!
By clicking on a word the check mark and the cross will appear to verify if you have selected correctly.

21. Example of an Incomplete Topic
**You need to achieve 80% or higher on all activities to master a topic. This includes the Overview, Animation, Recalls 1 and 2, and Apply**

23. Unlocks
You will be given 10 attempts to achieve 80% or higher on each activity. If you do not reach an 80% in two tries, the activity will need to be unlocked.
Unlocks will be done on request by calling, ing, or stopping by the MyWritingLabPlus Headquarters in Classroom Building 100. You can also fill out an online unlock form on the following link
If you request to be unlocked by , please make sure to give us your name, title of the topic and activity that needs to be unlocked, and the section number of your class. Once the topic is unlocked, you can try it again.

Under the Assignments tab you will find the number of sections of Hum2070/4070 you are enrolled in and your current progress.
Please be sure to notify us if the number of courses you are enrolled in does not match what is in mygradebook

Note, you are required to complete 20 topics per section you are enrolled in.
For example, this student is enrolled in 3 sections and has only 24/60 topics. So it shows that the course is Not Complete (NC)

You will need to complete 20 topics for each section of English 2070/4070 you are enrolled in.
Topics can be mastered in two ways:
1. by mastering topics through the Path Builder, a pre-diagnostic test that contains multiple choice questions,
2. by working through the topic and completing all 5 activities with an 80% or higher.

Pearson Writer offers a writing guide, research database, citation generator, task manager, and an automatic writing review.
Pearson Tutor Services
Pearson Tutor Services is a resource in MWLP that allows you to submit papers on any subject and receive feedback from a person with a Master’s or PhD in that subject. The papers are returned within an average of 24 hours.

We have a MyWritingLabPlus Headquarters on campus if you ever need any help in person regarding the program. We are located in Classroom Building 100. You are also welcome to use our computers any time during our hours of operation.
