Applicants Places Success Rate % % 15% % % Success rate in 2016 was 16%, 1 in 6 applicants were offered a place – far better odds than many other areas of graduate employment. Glasgow course 452 applicants for 26 places (c.17 applicants per place) Edinburgh course 582 applicants for 31 places (c.19 applicants per place) Current minimum salary for a Trainee Clinical Psychologist £26,302 pa Each applicant could apply to up to four NHS funded course centres, so 14,397 applications were made. If you think getting into a Scottish course is tough the figures for London based courses are worse: UCL 25 applicants/place, Royal Holloway 32a/p, Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience Kings College London 37a/p. UK/European applicants NHS funded courses The National Health Service (NHS) provides the funding for most of the places on clinical psychology courses. People accepted on these NHS funded places are currently employed by the NHS as Trainee Clinical Psychologists while they study. The minimum salary is bottom of Band 6 £26,302 (April 2016 figures) on the Agenda for Change pay scale. Course fees are paid by the NHS in most cases. For further details about NHS funding and about other costs, please see the information provided by individual course centres. Non-funded courses For applicants with home (UK/EU) fees status there will be some places available that are not funded by the NHS at the course centres. If you choose to apply for these non-funded places you will need to provide your own funding eg by funding yourself, by getting a scholarship, by organising sponsorship etc. Course centres that have non-funded places for UK/European applicants Apply directly to the university: University of Essex, University of Hertfordshire, Salomons Canterbury Christ Church University.
